Britax is the maker of a variety of fine car seats. Although their prices tend to be higher than other companies, Consumer Reports consistently rates Britax Car Seats in their top rankings.
The Britax Boulevard 70 convertible car seat is one of the most highly rated safety seats in the industry.
The runner up is the Britax Marathon 70 convertible car seat, which gets high reviews from parents who have used it.
If you’ve been researching car seats for a while, you’ll know that Britax has an excellent reputation to accompany their higher prices.

“Are Britax car seats worth the extra money?”
There are other similarly-rated car seats such as the Evenflo Triumph Advance which can be purchased for around half the cost of some of the pricier Britax models.
The truth is that there is no easy answer — the right car seat is the one that fits your baby and vehicle well, and the one where you feel comfortable using its features and installing correctly.
That being said, Britax is known to do extensive testing on all of their car seats, above and beyond the government’s required tests. All of these crash tests yield totaled cars and safety seats and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
As a company, Britax is known to offer superior customer support. They are not shy about issuing recalls — after all, people are human and technology and testing can change as new car features and testing methods emerge in the industry.
In case of a motor vehicle accident, Britax will offer a replacement car seat through most insurance plans at no charge.
Additionally, Britax manufactures their products in the USA, which is something that consumers appreciate in these days of foreign manufacturing.
Is a Britax car seat for you?
Let’s say you have the opportunity to buy a non-Britax seat for $149 and a Britax Boulevard for $289 on Amazon with free shipping. (Prices do fluctuate, and I have found Amazon.com to be the cheapest the vast majority of the time.) You’d like the Britax Boulevard for your baby, however the additional $140 is causing you to pause. Think about it this way: If you’ll get four years of use out of both seats (and you may get 6 or 7 years!), then that $140 is spread over 1,460 days, which means that you’ll pay an additional ten cents daily for superior ease of use and peace of mind. (I don’t know what ten cents can buy in your area, but here it doesn’t even get you a gumball anymore!)

Is the Britax Boulevard better that the Safety 1st air?
This is highly individual to what you’re looking at.
Some of the pros of the Safety 1st Complete Air is that it suits a taller child better with higher shoulder slots, more leg room, and a taller shell. It’s a lot cheaper which is a big plus as well.
What specifically would you like information about?
Do you suggest the britax marathon classic or a safety 1st alpha elite? I happen to have found the Britax for $148. I drive a honda pilot and my baby is only 3 months but I found the great deal so I bought the Britax but wondering if it’s worth to keep it.
When does the Britax expire? It’s a reasonable price for the brand, and I do happen to like it better than the Safety 1st Alpha Elite. Any reason those are the only two you’re considering?
